See The New Handicapped Icon
A revamped version of the common blue and white "disability icon" is set to debut in New York City. It will soon adorn bathroom doors, accessible entry ramps, and parking signs, as a result of a campaign by activists who say the traditional logo portrays the handicapped as limited, helpless, and passive.

The new icon features a character that is dynamic, leaning forward, with its arms "at the ready."
