Stella: Bluster, No Blizzard

aphank - Stella may be milder than expected, but dangerous winter conditions continue. 
This morning's blizzard warning and winter storm warning are suspended, but a winter weather advisory remains in effect for northern Nassau County through 8:00 p.m.  A wind advisory is in effect Island-wide through 6:00 p.m. Residents should be prepared for winds of about 30 miles per hour, with gusts of up to  50 mph, according to National Weather Service (NWS) authorities.
Snowfall accumulations of six inches or less are expected along the north shore of Nassau and western Suffolk, with less than 2 inches on our East End, where residents should expect a mostly rainy day with temperatures in the low to mid 30's.
Long Islanders who enjoy deep snow can look across Long Island Sound to Fairfield County, where up to two feet may fall.
On Long Island, officials expressed concern about the threat of shoreline erosion and coastal flooding during high-tide cycles today.
PSEG-LI reports more than 5,000 clients without electrical service as of 10:30 a.m. The majority of outages are in Suffolk County, with just over 3,900 reported, mostly in the Town of Huntington (1,454). Significant outages were also reported in Southampton Town (1,337), Broohaven (373), Babylon (344), and Smithtown (205). . Fewer than ten outages are reported in the town of East Hampton, after more than 1,000 customers lost service there earlier Tuesday.
In Nassau County PSEG-LI reports about 16-hundred clients without service in the towns of Hempstead (702), Oyster Bay (638), and North Hempstead (264).
The Long Island Rail Road is running on a regular, weekday schedule with some delays; Suffolk Transit and SCAT service is reportedly suspended today, Tuesday; Nassau NICE Bus may experience service suspensions by afternoon, according to officials.
